Addiction Counselling
Addiction is not limited to substances. It can present through behaviours, emotional patterns, relationships, and coping strategies.
I support individuals experiencing:
• Substance use
• Behavioural addictions (e.g.,gambling, gaming, technology use, compulsive behaviours)
• Social and emotional dependency patterns
• Codependency and relationship-based addictions
• Trauma-driven addictive cycles
Counselling focuses on identifying root causes, understanding triggers, supporting nervous system regulation, and developing healthier coping strategies in a non-judgmental, supportive environment.
Trauma-Informed Counselling
Trauma affects the brain, nervous system, relationships, and daily functioning. My approach prioritizes safety, stabilization, and pacing that respects your capacity.
Support includes:
• Emotional regulation and grounding
• Identifying trauma responses and triggers
• Boundary, trust, and attachment difficulties
• Generational and relational trauma
• Trauma related to abusive or controlling relationships
This work does not require retelling traumatic events. Sessions focus on stabilization, understanding patterns, and rebuilding internal safety.
Grief & Loss Counselling
Grief is deeply personal and does not follow a timeline. I support individuals navigating:
• Death of a loved one
• Relationship loss or separation
• Anticipatory grief
• Loss related to addiction, illness, or life transitions
• Complex or unresolved grief
Sessions gently explore emotional meaning, coping strategies, and ways to move forward with compassion and respect.
Men’s Mental Health Support
Many men face social and emotional barriers to seeking support. I offer a respectful, grounded space focused on:
• Emotional regulation
• Trauma and addiction
• Identity, purpose, and life transitions
• Communication and boundaries
• Relationship wellbeing
This service meets men where they are, without pressure, judgment, or stigma.
Suicide Prevention & Safety-Focused Support
I provide safety-focused, supportive counselling for individuals experiencing emotional overwhelm or distress within a non-crisis, scheduled counselling setting.
This includes:
• Safety planning
• Strengthening protective factors
• Identifying warning signs and coping strategies
• Stabilization and emotional regulation support
• Ongoing therapeutic support once immediate risk has passed

Appointments with VM Counselling Services must be scheduled in advance and are not intended for emergency intervention.

When appropriate and client-led, sessions may incorporate:

• Culturally grounded perspectives
